An exceptionally rare late 19th to early 20th century collar bar, dating to approximately 1890–1900, and representing some of the earliest gentleman’s collar hardware produced.

This example features a gold front with finely hand-etched detailing, displaying the delicate craftsmanship typical of the period. The design incorporates concealed spring grips, an ingenious early mechanism that secures the collar discreetly without the need for visible terminals or collar eyelets.

The softly contoured bar and subtle engraved motif give it a refined, understated presence, entirely in keeping with turn-of-the-century dress. Pieces of this age and quality seldom survive in such wearable condition.

A genuine antique of real historical interest, not a reproduction, and a remarkable addition for serious collectors or those pursuing true period accuracy.

Condition

Excellent antique condition. Mechanism remains functional, engraving still crisp, and surface showing only light, honest wear consistent with its age. A museum-worthy example of early collar engineering and design.
